Essential book for any theory oriented statistician

The author summarizes all the important theories and debates concerning statistical inference in this small book in a very clear and concise manner. Moreover each section also includes a very balanced comparison between different approaches.In fact one could purchase this book only because of the fact that it is written by D.R.Cox, a real veteran of statistics who profoundly contributed to the field.Given these qualities Cox's book should be considered as an essential item for any theory oriented statistician.
