The book contains a substantial body of research from Flanders, where the implementation of TBLT has been a nationwide project for fifteen years in primary, secondary and adult education.

As with all methodologies, Task-Based Language Teaching has been promoted by some and criticised by others. In addition, the definitions of 'task' abound, allowing everyone to call themselves proponents of TBLT.

TBLT is, however an approach, rather than a methodology, and this book does well to set the parameters from the beginning. It is also an important book, in that it documents a large TBLT programme (1200 students) that took place over 10 years, and was successful. At last, we have details of TBLT working as it was designed to work, providing meaningul, authentic language learning, with quantifiable results.

The textbook looks brand new! It's really large but was very cheap and the shipping was excellent, I am honestly glad I bought this. The focus of this book is on seismological concepts, how they originated and how they form our modern understanding of the science. A history of seismology falls naturally into four periods: a largely mythological period previous to the 1755 Lisbon earthquake; a period of direct observation from then to the development of seismometers in the late 19th century; a period during which study of seismic arrival times were used to outline the structure of the earth's interior extending the 1960s; the modern era in which all aspects of seismic waves are used in combination with trial models and computers to elucidate details of the earthquake process. This history attempts to show how modern ideas grew from simple beginnings. Ideas are rarely new, and their first presentations are often neglected until someone is able to present the evidence for their correctness convincingly. Well Done - Easily recommended for all but the expert

I recommend this to anyone new to doing business in China and even those with several years of experience. As a text in college focused on China this would be my first choice, supplemented by outside readings in Chinese history, culture, politics and global finance. The text covers the essential strategic commercial China background and questions - the why China, why now, and what is unique and relevant - - then takes a disciplined process approach to how you enter and manage in China. From the essential "entry" mode, alliances, partner selection, negotiations and more. Critical topics like managing HR in China, from a distance - motivation and more. The topics touch reality and are enriched with proven theory - backed with case studies, analysis and numbers.

The language is easy to read, follows threads to conclusions, coupled with insightful learnings backed with contemporary in country examples - getting the point is easy - sensible - and retainable. This is a fluid and masterful presentation and not at all a dry, nor choppy mashing of fact, example, and anecdote together. Easily in my top 10% of China reads on business.

I'm going to level with everyone and say what should be said even though saying what people are not saying is said to be too dark and off-limits for anyone wanting to say something like that to say. The name of the author in its true mandarin (putonghua) form is tian xiao wen, not its reverse. This is a conspiracy against language itself. Without language there can be no communication. Without communication there is war. War mean nuclear war these days, what with Iran and all, this conspiracy against the author affects us all and threatens us with global nuclear genocide.

But I reccomend this book highly.

Useful book and I received it in great conditions!

I bought this book used and besides I paid cheaper than a new one, the book came in excellent condition. It is like a new one. Even the CD ROOM. This is a second time that I bought an used bokk from Amazon and all of them are always in great conditions. Regarding to the book issue, I recommend this book because it has a great content in English vocabulary with many exercises, even in the CD. As I am a writer, I found in it great descriptions about people appearance, what it helped a lot to write my book chapter.

A sound treatment

Wight's exploration of the Agent-Structure problem is thorough and extensive. He touches on all of the major points of the debate and does a good job of highlighting its theoretical and methodological underpinnings. His own views are laid out succinctly, are easy to follow, and are a sound contribution.

This is, however, a technical theory laden book and requires a good bit of knowledge about the discipline to be of any use. Definitively not recommended for someone new to the field of International Relations, or looking for an introduction to the problem in the Social Sciences broadly. With this caveat it is the most contemporary and comprehensive treatment of the Agent-Structure debate to date, and a must read for researchers and scholars in that area.

A gorgeous book in every way

This is the most beautiful edition of the classic 1662 Book of Common Prayer I've ever had the pleasure to use. Before we get to the substance of the review, a brief prefatory note might be helpful: if you worship in an Anglican / Episcopalian church either in the US or in the UK, it's unlikely that this is the edition of the prayer book being used in your church. In the US most Episcopal churches appear to be using the 1979 edition of the US Prayer Book, while traditionalist parishes and many Anglican parishes use the 1928 US edition. Meanwhile in the UK most churches are using either the new Common Worship books, a version of the Roman rite, or services created locally. It seems that if you want to experience a true 1662 service these days you either need to attend a sparsely populated 8am or midweek communion service, or be very lucky in where you live.

And that's a shame, as you'd find out very quickly if you read / used this book. Even before we consider it as a prayer book, it's worth reflecting on the fact that many generations have considered it a masterpiece of English *literature*. The language, shaped by the confluence of it's Latin forebears, the enlivening influence of Tyndale's translations of Scripture, and the genius of Thomas Cranmer, is vivacious and memorable. It warns us of the "devices and desires of our own hearts", which we confess "meekly kneeling upon [our] knees". Couples coming to be joined in the "holy estate [which] Christ adorned and beautified with his presence" (marriage) are warned not to "satisfy [their] carnal lusts and appetites, like brute beasts that have no understanding," are instead exhorted to love one another as Christ loves the Church, "loving and cherishing it even as his own flesh." The examples could be multiplied endlessly - but perhaps you get the point. The words leave a delightful taste in the mouth long after you've finished pronouncing them.

And this is a beautiful edition of the book. It's traditional look belies the fact that Cambridge took an old edition and completely reset it digitally - somewhat similarly to a studio digitally remastering an old movie or music recording. The result is an attractively laid out text which has gravity and dignity, but which is also crisp and clear, so easy to read. The point size is generous for such a small volume (except the prefaces), and would be easily readable by most folks (and if you need large type, Cambridge do an large-print edition too:BCP Enlarged Edition Black French Morocco CP423. The French Morocco leather of this pocket edition is durable but so pleasant to hold. There is gilding around the page edges, which just adds to the attractive feel of the volume. And it's made to last - I've had my copy for perhaps a couple of years now, and it's regularly used, and yet it's showing very little sign of wear and tear. It should last me the rest of my life, and then still be good enough to pass along to another generation.

But it's not just a book to admire, either for it's quality production or its turns of phrase. It's a book to be *prayed*. And it serves this purpose admirably too. If you've never used a liturgical prayer book before it may take a little getting used to, but it's certainly easier to navigate than most other liturgical texts - part of Cranmer's genius. If you spend a few minutes with the contents page and the calendar, you should be able to work out pretty quickly everything you need to know to get started with Morning and Evening Prayer - and there are a multitude of online sites that can help. It will encourage you to establish or maintain a pattern of regular, daily prayer which can sustain you for a lifetime, as generations of past Christians can testify. The slightly archaic language may trip you up once or twice, but won't present much of a barrier - it's no harder than Shakespeare, for example (easier in most parts of the book).

Portable Prayer Book, Important Literary Contribution

A very nice edition of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Although small in size, the 9 point type is very readable, and its small footprint makes it a very portable Prayer Book, suitable for use at home as well as church (should you be blessed enough to attend a parish using this, the gold standard of BCP editions). It can easily fit into a coat pocket and is very comfortable in the hand. The binding is more utilitarian than beautiful, but by no means unlovely, and makes for a sturdy prayer-book that travels well should need or want require.

Although, as previously mentioned above, it is very readable, I would probably invest in the Enlarged Edition in leather, as the size is not much greater, and the leather bindings from Cambridge have a more personal feel to them.

The 1662 Book of Common Prayer is important both from a literary standpoint as well as historical, liturgical and spiritual standpoints. Familiarity with the Prayer Book will enhance the enjoyment of nineteenth century literature as well as providing a Regula and devotional resource for traditional Christians. Every Anglican should have this prayer-book, and every Christian can benefit from its reading and use.

Fantastic Edition - BCP

Just received my second shipment of Prayer Books. I have been slowly outfitting my chapel with these prayer books in the Pews. The edition is flawless. The size is EXACTLY what you would see in Churches in England (the last reviewer seemed slightly put-off by the size. I would suggest he purchase the large-type edition for the elderly if he needs a larger one. The binding is VERY GOOD for use in the pews. I have two small leather-bound editions (the same size by the way) for use in the chancel for Mattins or Evensong. I suppose the critical reviewer was used to the HUGE "Liturgy of 1979" that the Episcopal Church USA uses as its "Common Prayer". Cambridge does a fine job printing.
