Manuel Becerra holds the Accenture Chair in Strategic Management at the Instituto de Empresa Business School (IE), Madrid. His research has been published in many prestigious academic journals, including the Academy of Management Review and the Journal of Finance. He is currently Associate Editor of the Journal of Management.

This book reads like a doctoral student's summary of various academic articles.European doctoral students normally love to create overarching frameworks including everything, including corporate social responsibility in this case. The author's stated objective is to create a theory of strategic management. I think he fails miserably. It is too shallow for fellow academics and it is too theoretical for managers. That leaves some poor students as the target audience.

A thorough revision of Strategy

It's a great book, full of knowledge. It gives a whole, thorough and complete vision of what Strategy is, and presents current state of the art.
It's more of an academic book. It's not one of those light reading books about strategy fashions. On the other hand, it will be useful for anyone trying to understand an implement strategy with a minimum rigorous approach.
